Rules & Regulations

For health and safety reasons we do require proof of current coggins and rabies at all Silver Spur Riding Club events without this information you will not be able to show.
1.) Age requirments as of January 1st. 
2.) Under 18 are encouraged to wear helmets. A signed waiver is required from parent or guardian to show without a helmet for english and western riding.
3.) 14 hands and under will be shown as a pony.
4.)Anyone under that age of 18 will not be permited to handle or show a stallion on show grounds.
5.)Stallions are barred from all youth classes.
6.)Numbers need to be visible to judges and secretary's booth during classes.  1 warning will be given before disqualification.
7.)The number that is assigned to you at the first show is your number for the year.  If number is lost or forgotten will only provide a handwritten number.  No exceptions!
8.) Any horse/pony may be disqualified with judges/secretaries discreation with an explanation to owner/rider for any unsafe situation.
9.)Proper hats, boots, and attire in all halter/equation classes.  Hard hats and english equipment are required for jumping classes, no western saddles.  Riding boots with a heel must be worn in all class. No street clothes allowed while showing. Dropped nose bands, figure eight nose bands, or a running martingale may only be used in jumping classes.  If it is a safety issue it needs to be approved via the show secretary. 
10.)A red ribbon must be placed on horse/pony if they kick.  If your horse/pony kicks on the grounds repeatly you will be disqualified.
11.) Alcholic beverages and illegal drugs will be prohibited on show grounds. 
12.)Membership must be paid prior to showing to qualify for points for that show, memberships will be accepted year round.
13.)3 Minutes holds will only be allowed for classes if show secretary is notified atleast 2 classes prior, this can be done at class registration time. We prefer registration to be done by 8:45.
14.You need to register to enter a class.  You need to be lined up at the gate promptly at the start of your class, once the gate is closed the class is closed. No exceptions.
15.)Questions pertaining to judging will be adressed to the Judge.  See show secretary for times available.
16.)Silver Spur does not tolerate violence to anyone or anything.  Anyone who abuses animals or people will be given 1 warning then be asked to leave.
17.) Refunds will not be given unless it is approved through Silver Spur officers, if approved only will be given on the day of show.
18.)Cantering is only allowed in show ring, practice ring or while lunging.  No other exceptions. After 1 warning is given you will be asked to leave.
19.)Western Classes Horse/Ponies 5 and under can be riden 2 handed with proper bit or bosal.  Shank bits are to be ridden 1 handed only.
20.)If you register walk/trot you can not change to walk/trot/canter or vice versa without the approval of show secretary.
21.)Trail classes and/or jump classes only 3 attempts per obstacle rider must move on after 3rd.
22.)Lead lines classes require a bridle and a halter, lead line must be attached to halter lead line cannot be attached to bit.
23.) Therapeutic classes bridle is required.  Lead Line classes do not require a lead line, handler can assist rider at the horses side.
24.) Green Horse/Rider Classes Rider has a 1 year limit to class.
