GENERAL RULES FOR EQUITATION AND GAMES SHOWS    

1.      Age requirements will be effective as of January 1s.t

2.      Under 18 all are required to wear helmets in the Game Show.

3.      14 hands and under will be shown as a Pony

4.      Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES NO ONE UNDER 21 will be ALLOWED to handle, care for or show
a Stallion on the Silver Spur Riding Club’s grounds.       

5.      Stallions are barred from all youth classes  

6.      Numbers must be worn and visible at all times to the Judge and the Secretary’s booth
during the class. You will receive one warning, after that you will be disqualified and  
you won’t place in that class.

7.      THE NUMBER THAT IS ASSIGNED TO YOU AT YOUR FIRST SHOW WILL BE USED IN THE  
REMAINDER SHOWS. IF YOU LOSE OR FORGET YOUR NUMBER YOU WILL BE ISSUED A HAND
WRITTEN ONE AT THE SHOW.   YOU CAN NOT USE ANOTHER NUMBER. IF YOU ENTER THE
RING WITH ANOTHER NUMBER YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND WILL BE DISQUALIFIED
FROM THAT CLASS. NO EXCEPTIONS

8.      Any horse/pony may be disqualified at the Judge’s discretion, with an explanation to the
Exhibitor. The Show Secretary may dismiss any horse/pony at the discretion if an unsafe
situation occurs.  

9.      Proper hats, boots and attire must be worn in all halter and Equitation Classes. NO SWEAT-
SHIRTS OR SWEAT PANTS OR SNEAKERS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME!!!! Hard hats and English   
equipment (no Western) must be used in all jumping classes. Chaps in Western classes are
worn at the rider’s discretion. Drop nose bands, figure 8 nose bands or a running martingale
may only be used in a jumping class or if it is a safety issue and needs to be used on your
horse/pony. SAFETY IS IMPORTANT. Boots with a heel must be worn in all classes
however, NO HEELS DOWN SNEAKERS or regular sneakers are allowed at anytime.

10.    A RED RIBBON SHOULD BE PLACED ON YOUR HORSE/PONY’S TAIL IF THEY KICK. IF
YOU HAVE REPEATEDLY NOT USED A RIBBON YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE CLASS.

11.    ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AND ILLEGAL DRUGS ARE PROHIBITED ON THE SHOW GROUNDS
PLEASE DO NOT BRING THEM.

12.    Membership will be accepted all year. Memberships must be paid for prior to showing to
qualify for points. The points start at the show that you paid your membership.


13.    THERE WILL BE NO HOLDS ON CLASSES UNLESS HORSE/PONY/RIDER IS IN THE NEXT CLASS
THE SHOW SECRETARY WILL NEED TO KNOW 2 CLASS PRIOR TO THE CLASS THAT YOU
WANT HELD.  A HOLD WILL NOT LAST LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES.       


14.     CLASS REGISTRATIONS AND CHANGES MUST BE DONE 2 CLASSES IN ADVANCE.   
NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For classes 1 & 2, registration will be taken only until 8:45a.m.,
after 8:45a.m. Classes 1 & 2 will be closed to all entries. If a participant enters a class they
have not signed up for, they will be asked to leave the class and will be disqualified from
placing in that class.

15.     Any questions see the Show Secretary and/ or the officers. Questions pertaining to the
judging will be addressed to the Judge. See the Show Secretary to schedule a convenient         
time to discuss the matter at the Judge’s Discretion.

16.     Silver Spur has a NON-VIOLENCE RULE. No foul language. We do not allow ABUSE TO
ANIMALS on the grounds. This is NOT acceptable. You will be given one warning only and         
the second time you will be asked to leave the grounds

17.     Refunds will be given on the decision of the executive board, if an injury occurs
or there is a good reason for the Board to give a refund.

18.     NO CANTERING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE SHOW RING OR PRACTICE RING IS ALLOWED,
THIS INCLUDES ALL OF THE SILVER SPUR GROUNDS. AFTER 2 WARNINGS YOU                 
WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE…………NO REFUNDS

19.      Entries must be prepared and ready to go enter their classes at the gate. The
class will be closed after the last horse/pony enters the ring. We will no longer hold a
class, unless you have a prearranged hold.

20.      Western Classes: Horses/Ponies age 5 & under can be ridden (2) handed with the
proper bit or bosal. Shank bits are to be ridden (1) handed only.

21.      Walk/Trot Classes: For any horse/rider combos that have not entered and participated
in any walk/trot/canter or lope classes this season, riders may not cross over into
other divisions. Any changes to a riders division are made by the Show Committee
present at show.

22.      Trail Classes: 3 tries per obstacle and the rider must move on.

23.      The Lead line classes: do not attach the lead-line to the bit. Lead-line and Therapeutic
lead-line do not have to have the same horse or handler to quality for year-ends.  In
Therapeutic lead-line the handler does not have to have the lead line attached, they    
can assist them at the horse’s side. There has to be a bridle on the horse/pony.








Miscellaneous
We are American Paint Horse Association (PAC) and the Appaloosa Association approved, If you would like         more information
on this see the Show Secretary.

Year end trophies will be awarded in each class. To qualify for an award (year end points) a
horse/pony must be registered and shown in:  Equitation Shows:  4 out of 6 shows; Game Shows:  
4 out of 5  shows.  Membership must be paid prior to the show in order to qualify for points.  “NO     
EXCEPTIONS” ……..If a horse/rider is injured on the grounds, please report the injury immediately to
the Show Secretary and/or authorized personnel. Silver Spur encourages all participants to acquire
their own insurance for their horse/rider and their equipment.

Special trophies will be given out at the Year-end Banquet for high point w/t (13 & under), high point
w/t (18 & over), High game pairs, high point horse, high point pony, high point senior game horse,
high point junior, game horse and high point youth in each division. There is also a Bart Ryan Memorial
Trophy.  Bart raised Quarter Horses for many years and later years he acquired a Paint Stallion. To
qualify for this year end award you must own, ride or show a registered Quarter Horse or Paint.  If you
wish to qualify, please sign up with the Show Secretary and show proof of registration. You will be
picking 2 classes from the list. (1) halter class & (1) riding class or equitation, 2 classes for games. Points
will be counted from the first show that you have signed up for and according how you place in the classes.
